Emergency Care
Mercy Hospital offers a fully functioning, 24-hour emergency service on the ground floor for the quick and easy admittance of patients. At least one surgeon is on-call at the hospital at all times of the day. Three well-equipped ambulances, including two special cardiac care ambulances with ventilators, are dispatched daily to respond to medical emergencies and provide quick transport to the hospital. The ambulances make emergency healthcare accessible to even the poorest areas of Calcutta.
In the emergency room, patients receive expert medical diagnosis and care designed to address both major and minor operations. The emergency room is backed by a comprehensive range of services including pathology, pharmacy, blood-bank and x-ray facilities. Emergency patients may be transferred to a specialty centre on another floor, such as the intensive therapy unit or the intensive cardiac care unit, when further treatment and specialized attention is necessary.
